Paheli went to the market to buy sarees for her mother. She took out a thread from the edge of the two sarees shown by the shopkeeper and burnt them. One thread burnt with a smell of burning hair and the other burnt with the smell of burning paper. Which thread is from a pure cotton saree and which one from a pure silk saree? Give reason for your answer.

The thread that burnt with the the smell of burning hair would be a wool cloth and when you are talking about a silk thread, it burns with a smell of burning meat.. Cotton thread burns with a smell of burning paper.
More or less the threads are related with the type of smell they produce while burning.

the one which burnt with a smell of burning hair is pure wool and the other which burnt with a smell of burning paper is pure cotton. so none of them is pure silk.
