Mistakes are made everyday, but everybody makes mistakes. I’ve made a mistake and it was when I was in fourth grade. It messed up my whole life for a while. The mistake was when I behaved badly in school.
I used to always push everyone around, even some teachers. I would shove them and smack them because I felt like it. I would behave this way because all my friends thought it was cool.
Once a new kid came and tried to pick a fight with me by calling me names, so without even thinking I punched him in the nose. He went to the hospital and the doctors told him that his nose was broken.
I was proud because I had stood up for myself until I heard that his nose might not be fixed. I had mixed emotions, I was very conflicted. I felt sick to the stomach. Because of my mistake, his nose might be fractured for the rest of his life. I was worried and felt bad about that. For the first time, I actually felt worried for what was going to happen to me.
From that day on I stopped fooling around and disrespecting others. I started to realize that my behavior was not who I really was. Before this time, I was a good kid. Beating up that kid made me learn a lesson and that’s that everybody makes mistakes. Your life could be good or bad, sometimes these mistakes decide who you are and who you will be in the future.
I learned that when I chose to hang out with kids who were a bad influence it affects who I am. Now I understand that because of my mistakes people were affected and so was I. I believe that everybody makes mistakes, so when someone makes a mess of themselves because of something, I tell them to choose the right path. That’s my advice because when ever you make a mistake you should not be led to things you don’t want to do but to do things that are good for you.
