How did Helen Keller enjoy her visit to the World fair? (120‒150 words)
Answers
PART A
Margot and Anne’s relationship with their parents seems to be quite complicated.
The lack of literal space and privacy put a strain on their personal lives.
They wished that their parents would treat them as young adults and not as kids.
They felt that they were often misunderstood and also lacked the space to share their views.
They were tired of keeping up with mundane everyday activities and wished for a break from it all.
They hoped that their parents will not criticise each and every action of theirs and someday give importance to their emotions too.
Probably, had the Frank family the space, literally and figuratively, they would have had a healthier and more constructive relationship among themselves.
PART B
The World Fair was held at Chicago, Illinois in 1893.
Helen Keller attended the fair with Dr Alexander Graham Bell as her guide and Ms. Sullivan.
It was one of her childhood dreams to attend the fair and it had come true.
She was enthralled by the Midway Plaisance where several scenes from around the world were recreated.
She was given special permission to touch the exhibits by Mr. Higinbotham who was the President of the World Fair so that she can ‘see’ the exhibits.
She was awestruck by how much technology had developed and the abilities of mankind.
Dr Graham Bell explained the scenes around them so that she can completely experience the Fair.
One can fairly say that Helen had one of the best times of her life at the World Fair.
