People with kidney disease who can't excrete excess phosphorus may benefit from taking antacids. This is because of the hydroxide of the substance which is present in the antacids will react will phosphorus to produce a salt which will later be removed from the body. Hence the phosphorous is not stored in the body and rmis removed from the body by means of the salt.
