Question:-

Find the altitude of a triangle whose area is 45cm and base is 45mm.

Answer:-

Given :-

The given figure is a triangle.

The base of the triangle is 45mm.

The area of the triangle is 45cm.

To find :-

The altitude of the triangle

Process :-

Firstly,we have to convert all the units of the measurements into one in order to calculate:-

Base = 45mm

Change of mm into cm (as area is in cm):-

⇒ Cm =  \frac{mm}{10}  \\  \\ ⇒Cm =  \frac{45}{10}  \\  \\ ⇒Cm = 4.5cm

Now,as we all know:-

⇒ Area \: of \: triangle \: =  \frac{1}{2} ×Base × Height \\  \\

Therefore,putting the above equation in the formula:-

{ Note that Height and Altitude has same meaning}

⇒ Area =  \frac{1}{2} × Base × Height \\  \\ ⇒45=  \frac{1}{2} × 4.5 × Height \\  \\ ⇒45 × 2 = 4.5 × Height \\  \\ ⇒90 = 4.5 × Height  \\  \\ ⇒ 4.5 × Height = 90 \\  \\ ⇒Height =  \frac{90}{4.5}  \\  \\ ⇒ Height = 20cm

We can conclude that the altitude of the triangle is 20cm.

Some more formulas:-

• \:  Area \: of \: scalene \: triangle =  \frac{1}{2}  \times Base \times Height  \\  \\ •  \:  Perimeter \: of \: Scalene  \: triangle = a +b+c \\  \\ • \:  Area  \: of  \: equilateral \: triangle =  \frac{ \sqrt{3} }{4}  {a}^{2}  \\  \\ •  \:  Perimeter \: of \: equilateral \:  triangle = 3×a \\  \\ • \:  Area \: of  isosceles \: triangle =  \frac{b {h}^{b} }{2}  \\  \\ •  \: Perimeter \: of \: isosceles \: triangle= 2a + b \\  \\ •  \: Area \: of \: right \: angled \: triangle =  \frac{1}{2} (Base × Perpendicular) \\  \\ • \: Perimeter \: of \: right \: angled  \: triangle= a + b +  \sqrt{ {a}^{2}  +  {b}^{2}  }
