Pipeline transport network is a new arrival on the transportation map of India.
These pipelines have been set extensively for the ease in transportation of crude oil, petroleum and petroleum products, minerals, natural gas, etc. to remote and far-flung areas of the country. Though the input cost is very high yet the output will have wide-effects on the progress of the nation as a whole. Each village will have their own access to gas and electricity and hence there will be upliftment in the standard of living.
:) Hope this Helps!!!

(i) Previously these were used to transport water to cities and industries.
(ii) Presently these are used to transport crude oil, petroleum products and natural gas.
(iii) Initial cost of laying pipelines is high but running costs are minimal.
(iv) It rules out delay and losses. Some networks are from oilfield in upper Assam to Kanpur
