There is a lack of internal democracy within political parties in India.
The above statement can be explained by the following points:
1. Parties don't conduct internal elections regularly.
2. Ordinary members do not get sufficient Information about the happenings inside the party.
3. The Power is concentrated mostly in the hands of few leaders at the top.
4. As leader being more powerful, more than loyalty to party principles and policies, personal loyalty to the leaders becomes more important.

i) All over the world there is a tendency in pol. parties towards the concentration of power in one or few leaders at the top.
ii) Parties do not keep membership register.
iii) Do not hold organisational meetings.
iv) Do not conduct internal elections regularly.
v) Ordinary members of the party do not get sufficient information on what happens inside the party.
vi) Members show more loyalty to the leaders than to the party principles to get favour from leaders who hold absolute power.
