Pitts India act of 1784 provided for a Board of Control in Britain consisting of six commissioners for monitoring the affairs in India. The governor general's council was reduced to three members, including one commander-in-chief.Pitts India act laid the foundation for British administration in India.According to this act all further conquests of territories in India were to be stopped. But the British did not adhere it strictly.
But
Pitts India act served it's purpose on whole. It was in force for almost 100 years till 1857.
Hope this helps!
