The factor necessary for photosynthesis proved in the above experiment is LIGHT:

(a) This shows that light is very important in the process of photosynthesis as it breaks down water into its constituent parts H2 and O2.

(b) The plant was placed in the dark only to prove that light is essential for photosynthesis.

(c) 6CO²+ 6H²O===> C⁶H¹²O⁶+ 6O² in the presence of light and chlorophyll.

(d)As photosynthesis did not happen in some parts of the leaf as seen in the figure, carbohydrates were not formed hence the starch will not turn blue in the places where the leaf is yellow.
