1. Atoms combine in order to become stable. In order to attain stability, they combine with other atoms.

2. Noble gases are unreactive because they contain 8 electrons in their outermost shell i.e they have octet electron configuration. Noble gases are very stable. So they are chemically unreactive.

3. 1. The cation and the anion being oppositely charged attract each other and form a chemical bond. Since this chemical bond is formed is due to the electrostatic force of attraction between a cation and an anion, it is called an electrovalent bond.  

   2. The chemical compounds formed as a result of the transfer of electrons from one atom of the element to  one atom of another element are called ionic or electrovalent compounds 

4. Electrovalent compounds are formed between metals and non-metals.

The tendency of an atom to combine it with other elements is called valency.
