actually there are some types of chemicals exactly like the fertilzers, the farmers spread in their farms for more effective outcomes but those chemicals are not good for human bodies so we wash those plants/furits/vegetables to drain out those harmful chemicals.....you know it right???
same way the soil is also get disturbed by those chemicals so to the nature itself washes them out from the soil & land....that process is leaching
nature does all these things with percolating liquid, especially rainwater.
