Difficulties in travelling on sand :-

Sand keeps on shifting and does not stick at one place. it's very coarse in nature. for this reason, feet gets stuck in sand as it doesn't provide solid surface to walk upon.

padded feets like camel are useful as they distribute the eight over a larger area so putting less pressure in sand which doesn't shift that much
