ANSWER :

(a) What silence is the poet talking about?

→ Silence here, refers to the situation after the poet's mother's death.

(b) What compels the poet to write about that silence everything?

→ The poet wrote the above line in remembrance of her mother. There is no one to solve the mysteries of the photographs. There is no one to tell intresting stories to relate them. The poet finds herself difficult to know the reality of her mother's death. Whenever she remembers her mother, she just becomes silent with the pain that followed after her mother’s death.

Here is the answer of your question :-

(A) The poet is talking about her mother's death through the word silence.

(B) When the poet looks at the photograph she remembered about her mother. That how her mother is smiling in the photograph. But now her mother is death. It makes her feel bad. Because she lost her mother's laughter and cannot see it anymore. So, that's why she said that there is nothing to say at all it's silence and silence only.

Hope it helps you.
