Let the fraction be X/Y
Original fraction = X/Y
Given,
X+8/2Y = 1/2
2(X+8) = 2Y
X+8 = Y
Y - X = 8
Hope it helps :)

Let numerator be x
and, denominator be y
then, fraction will be x/y
Now, numerator is increased by 8.
so, new numerator is x+8.
and, denominator is doubled
so, new denominator is 2y
it is also given that th fraction becomes 1/2
therefore, x+8/2y = 1/2
2x+16 = 2y
2x-2y+16=0
x-y+8=0..............On dividing both sides by 2.
x-y = -8
y-x = 8.
Hence the linear equation in two variable to find the fraction of given data is:-
y-x = 8.
