Exothermic Reaction-

A chemical change which proceeds with the evolution of heat energy is called an exothermic reaction.

Examples-

i) N2(g) + 3H2(g) ⇔ 2NH3(g).+ HEAT

ii) 2H2(g)+O2(g)→2H2O(l) + HEAT

Double decomposition Reaction-

A chemical reaction in which both reactants are decomposed to give two new compounds by exchanging their radicals is called double decomposition reaction.

Examples-

i) Na2CO3 + CaCl2 → 2 NaCl + CaCO3

ii)HCl+NaOH→H2O+NaCl

Electrochemical Reaction-

A chemical reaction which proceeds with the absorption of electric energy is called an electrochemical reaction.

Examples-

i)2H2O (acidified) ->(electric current) 2H2+ O2.

ii)NaCl(fused) ->(elecric current) Na+Cl.
