PLEASE ANSWER THIS QUESTION!!! The latitudinal and longitudinal extent of India is about 30°. Despite this fact, the east-west extent appears to be smaller than the north-south extent. explain why?​

The latitudinal and longitudinal extent of India is about 30 degrees

. The North-South extent is 3214 km and the  East-West extent is 2933 km. The distance between any two lines of longitude is maximum at the equator and goes on decreasing as one goes from the equator to the poles. The distance between lines of latitude remains the same at all latitudes. India is away from the equator. So, the lines of longitude come nearer and the East-West distance becomes less than the North-South distance.
