4.Plants acquire nitrogen from the soil by by absorption through their roots as amino acids, ammonium ions, nitrite ions or nitrate ions. Hydrogen is obtained by splitting of water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen during photosynthesis byplants.

5.The earthworm species (or composting worms) most often used are red wigglers (Eisenia fetida or Eisenia andrei), though European nightcrawlers (Eisenia hortensis or Dendrobaena veneta) could also be used.
