please answer whether the answer is correct or wrong...if correct then explain and if wrong then correct it

question:The mean of 15 observation is 16 if each observation in the data is. decreaed by 25%, what will be new mean of data?

Yes, the answer is 12.
The given method of subtracting 25% from the total sum is also correct.

This is another method,
The mean of 15 observations is 16.
So, If each of the observations is decreased by 25%. It is equivalent to the mean decreased by 25%.

So decrease is, 25% of 16
= 25/100 * 16
=1/4*16
=16/4
=4

Decreased value of mean (new mean) = 16-4
                                                                    =12
