As the 2 resistances arein series.
Therefore the the current across them will be same and potential difference across their points will be different.
So by the given picture then potential difference with across the circuit is 12 + 6 which is equals to 18 V.
=> I = V/R
=> I = 12/6 = 6/R. [Current is same]
=> R = 3ohm.
Reading of Ammeter will be (I) = 2A.
