Report of the Meeting to Review City Disaster Management Planof Thiruvananthapuram (CDMP) MC
On 22nd of July a meeting was held in the conference hall of Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation to
review the City Disaster Management Plan (CDMP) prepared in the year 2011 under previously implemented
GoI-UNDP-Urban Risk Reduction Programme. The meeting was chaired by the respected Mayor Adv. K.
Chandrika and was facilitated by Dr.Jyoti Parikh – Consultant UNDP New Delhi.

The meeting started at 3.20 PM with a welcome speech delivered by Shri. Ramesh Krishnan- City Project
Co-ordinator of GoI-UNDP-Climate Risk Management Project. The City Project Co-ordinator described the
institutional arrangements made at national and state level to implement the project. He also gave an over
view of the entire activities which will be implemented in the Municipal Corporation of Thiruvananthapuram
over a period of three years (2013 to 2015). Following are the activities briefed by the City Project Co-
ordinator:-
1. Preparation of City Disaster Management Plan.
2. Undertaking Hazard Vulnerability and Risk Assessment of Thiruvananthapuram city.
3. Development of action plan to strengthen Early Warning System in the city.
4. Development of sectoral plans to mainstream DRR and Climate Change Adaptation in development
programs of Thiruvananthapuram MC.
5. Community Based Disaster Risk Management Programme.
6. Development of relevant knowledge products and establishment of knowledge sharing mechanism.
