length of the rectangle is equal to the 40 cm
and the breadth of the rectangle is equal to the 22 cm
then perimeter of the rectangle
perimeter = 2(l+b)
= 2(22+40)
= 2*62
=124cm
as we know that the perimeter of the rectangle and square will be equal
then. 4s=124
s=124/4
s =31
the each side will equal to 31 cm

area covered by the rectangle
 = l \times b \\  = 22 \times 4 0 \\  = 88 0{cm}^{2}
area covered by the square
 = s \times s \\  = 31 \times 31 \\  = 961 {cm}^{2}
square will cover more area
