We know that A = P(1 + r/100)^n

⇒ 6084 = P(1 + 4/100)^2

⇒ 6084 = P(1 + 0.04)^2

⇒ 6084 = P(1.04)^2

⇒ 6084 = 1.0816

⇒ P = 5625.

Therefore, Present population = 5625.
