displacement is the shortest distance travelled...and in this case displacement is 100 km because here we went 150 km but returned back 50 km...and distance covered will be 200km...

Displacement means any object displace one place to an other.. It is calculated by shortest distance in this problem shortest distance is AC ie, 150-50=100km. That is a particle displace 100km.. Total distance covered by particle =150+50=200km
