I had known Tejaswini for years. She was my fellow classmate and we had grown up together eating mangoes and gossiping!
The quality that I liked most in her was her Boldness... The ability to speak up which was something rare in girls of our time. I had admired her for her ways but also warned her to be careful!
Inspite of my and her parents constant nagging, she grew up bold and beautiful!
She had empowering persona and was strictly against men dominance prevalent in the society.
I especially remember her for her fearlessness to speak up at the time of her marriage when the groom demanded cash as dowry from her father.

[You can use more details to describe the setting of marriage.]

Her father being poor and polite got easily overpowered by the groom but Tegaswini stood firm and like a lioness boldly refused dowry for marriage.
The groom's parents feeling humiliated, left the venue but before leaving they carved out a local heroine out of a modest and bold girl I knew... ie Tegaswini
