 \bold{3x + 2(x + 4) = 20 - (2x - 5)} \\ \\ \bold{ = > 3x + 2x + 8 = 20 - 2x + 5} \\ \\ \bold{ = > 5x + 8 = - 2x + 25} \\ \\ \bold{ = > 5x + 2x = 25 - 8} \\ \\ \bold{ = > 7x = 17} \\ \\ \bold{ = > x = \frac{17}{7} }

 \underline{ \underline{ \bold{ \red{ \: \: \:VERIFICATION \: \: \: }}}}

 \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \boxed{ \bold{x = \frac{17}{7} }} \\ \\ \\ \bold{L.H.S. =3x + 2(x + 4) } \\ \\ = \bold{3x + 2x + 8} \\ \\ \bold{ = 5x + 8} \\ \\ \bold{ = 5 \times ( \frac{17}{7} ) + 8} \\ \\ = \bold{ \frac{85 }{7} + 8} \\ \\ \bold{ = \frac{85 + 56}{7} } \\ \\ \bold{ = \frac{141}{7} }

 \bold{R.H.S. = 20 - (2x - 5)} \\ \\ \bold{ = 20 - 2x + 5} \\ \\ \bold{ = 25 - 2x} \\ \\ \bold{ = 25 - 2 \times ( \frac{17}{7} )} \\ \\ \bold{ = 25 - \frac{34}{7} } \\ \\ \bold{ = \frac{175 - 34}{7} } \\ \\ \bold{ = \frac{141}{7} }

 \: \bold{So,} \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \underline{ \bold{ \: \: L.H.S. = R.H.S. \: \: \: }}

3x+ 2(x+4) = 20- (2x -5 )

3x + 2x + 8 = 20 - 2x + 5

5x + 8 = 25 - 2x

5x - 2x = 25-8

3x = 17

x = 17/3
