steps of construction-

1. Given a line XY with point Z outside it .

2. Mark point A on the line AB

join ZA

3. With A as centre and any radius,

draw an arc.

4. With Z as centre,

and same radius as before,

draw an arc intersecting ZA at D .

5. Open campass at length BC .

6. Now, with G as centre,

and campass open the same radius as before,

draw an arc intersecting the previous arc at E.

7. Draw an line m passing through Z and E.

Thus, m is the parallel line to XY, and passing through point Z.

So, m || XY .
