In similar triangles,

(Ratio of sides)^2 = Ratio of areas

So, (1.2/1.4)^2 = Ratio of areas

Hence, Ratio of areas = (6/7)^2

= 36 : 49

area \: abc \: \div area \: def \: \\ = {(ab \div df)}^{2}
 =(1.2 \div 1.4) {}^{2} \\ = (0.6 \div 0.7) {}^{2} \\ = 0.36 \div 0.49 = 36 \div 49
The ratio would de 36 : 49 or 0.36 : 0.49
