a) In balanced condition,
moment due to the mass of rule (clockwise moment) = moment of 0.45 N weight (counter clockwise moment)
so, moment = 0.45N * 0.25m = 0.1125Nm
b) Given data
weight of meter rule = 0.90N
moment = 0.1125Nm
moment arm = 0.1125Nm/0.90N = 0.125m = 12.5cm
so, position of center of gravity is 40cm + 12.5cm = 52.5cm
