When we draw BY to AC

We will make a triangle BYC

In that triangle Y will be 90 degrees because BY is perpendicular to AC

In triangle BYC

YC=1/2AC

YC=4cm

Now we know that YC=4cm

And BC=12c

We want to find BY

In triangle BYC, since BY is leg, YC is leg and BC is hypotenuse

Therefore

(BY)^2 = (BC)^2 - (YC)^2

(BY)^2 = (12)^2 - (4)^2

(BY)^2 = 144-16

(BY)^2=128

BY = root square 128 = 11.313cm

Take these as notes:

(hypotenuse)^2 = (leg)^2  + (leg)^2

(Leg)^2 =  (hypotenuse)^2  - (leg)^2

After using the above fromulas, find the root square of the answer like we did with 128
