1. when a bee stings it injects formic acid or methanoic acid into our body to neutralise it sodium bicarbonate ( baking soda) is used.
it is a neutralisation reaction .
HCOOH + NaHCO3 ------ HCOONA + CO2 + H2O
2. the reason is rancidity. the corrosion of foods by the action of oxygen . it is also an oxidisation reaction.
3. bleaching power
Ca(OH) 2+ Cl2 -------- CaOCl2 + H2O
4. the chemical formula for baking soda is NaHCO3.
NaCl + H2O + CO2 + NH3 ------- NH4Cl + NaHCO3. on heating it gives out carbondioxide .
2NaHCO3 -------- Na2CO3 + CO2 + H2O
5. neutralisation reaction
NaOH + HCl ------- NaCl + H2O
6. gold is highly unreactive and doesn't corrode. silver also doesn't react with moist air but in presence of Hydrogen suphide (H2S) it gets corroded and forms a black layer.
7 a. the metal is copper and it is corrosion
b. 2Cu + O2 ------ 2CuO
c. painting the surface, applying grease or oil also reduces corrosion.
