please solve this question number 33. find the length of chord subtending an angle of 120 degree at center of circle having radius 4 cm

Hi ,

Draw a rough diagram.

Let O is a center of the circle .

radius = OA = OB = 4 cm

AB is a chord .

Draw a perpendicular line from O to

AB , which intersects AB at P .

In triangle OAB ,

Now ,

In ∆APO ,

Cos
Cos30° = AP/4

√3/2 = AP/4

AP = 2√3

Therefore ,

Length of the chord = AB

= 2 × AP

= 2 × 2√3

= 4√3cm
