Many times it happens that when you are in an examination hall, and you get a question asking for you to write a letter to someone or an essay on a topic, you don't understand it. When this happens, try not to panic, as things may go worse.

If you get a question like this, then better keep it for the last, if you can. Because then you will have time to think calmly and write. Because of the hurry that you have to finish your exam, you might not have been able to understand it.

If it's optional, then you can skip it. Usually, letter writing and essay writing questions have two or more topics for you to choose from, so you should read the others as well, and choose the one best for you.

When there is only one question, it's compulsory, you can't understand, and can't shuffle its sequence, then you should read that question calmly, with a very low voice. When you speak out, you tend to understand things better, which is why some people choose to repeat things said to them.

When you've read it thoroughly, you should've understood by this time. If not, invigilators are always available to help you out.

But if you still want to try it by yourself, then see the placement of words in the question. It will give you an idea of what a word might mean.

Still, I suggest asking invigilators or teachers for help in situations like this. Try not to panic, and good luck!
