carbohydrates , fats, proteins are the main substates for respiration. converting carbohydrates into glucose is the first step in respiratory pathway.

fats enter the pathway after converting into phosphoglyceraldehyde at Krebs cycle

protein enter the pathway after degraded by proteases and enter at same Krebs cycle as pyruvate or acetly co enzymeA

since respiration involves breaking down of molecules it is a catabolic process

we know that fatty acids would be breakdown into acetly co enzymeA before entering the respiratory pathway at the same time if the organism needs the synthesis of fats the acetly co enzymeA can be with drawm from the pathway here to this process is Anabolic process

from above we can say that respiratory pathway exhibits both anabolism and catabolism therefore it is called Ampihibiolic pathway
