Hello there,

The basic difference between gene, chromosome is the number of nucleotides.

Basically a gene is a sequence of nucleotide(DNA) which codes for a protein and hence has phenotypic(Visible) effect

Chromosome is the highly condensed form of DNA which appears during cell division such as mitosis and meiosis
