Answer:

10,500 metres

Explanation:

Correction:

Velocity of ultrasound is 1400 m/s

Given :

  • Velocity of ultrasonic sound in water = 1400 m/s

  • Time taken for the ultrasound to travel back = 15 seconds

To find :

  • Depth of the ocean

Velocity = 2d/t (2d as the ultrasound has to go and travel back again)

1400 = 2d/15

2d = 1400×15

2d = 21,000

d = 21,000/2

d = 10,500 metres

The depth of the ocean is equal to 10,500 metres

Given :-

  • Velocity (v) of ultrasound sound =1400m/s

  • Time (t) taken to reflect wave=15s

To Find:-

  • Depth (d) of Ocean .

Solution :-

By using this Formula

➦ 2d=vt

➭ 2d = 1400×15

➭ d = 1400×15/2

➭ d = 10500m

∴ The depth of ocean is 10500m.

Extra Information!!!!!!!

Sonar stands for sonographic navigation ranging. This is a method for detecting and finding the distance of object under water by means of reflected waves. The device used in this method is called Sonar.
