Step-by-step explanation:

Given Question:-

If the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial

22 + (a +1)x + b are 2 and –3, then find the value of a and b.

Correct Question:-

If the zeroes of the quadratic polynomial

2x²+(a+1)x+b are 2 and -3 then find the value of "a" and "b".

Solution:-

Given polynomial P(x)=2x²+(a+1)x+b

If 2 and -3 are then P(2)=0 and P(-3)=0 by Factor theorem.

P(2)=2(2²)+(a+1)(2)+b=0

=>8+2a+2+b=0

=>2a+b+10=0

=>2a+10=-b

=>b=-(2a+10)-----(1)

and P(-3)=2(-3)²+(a+1)(-3)+b=0

=>18-3a-3+b=0

=>15-3a+b=0

=>15-3a-2a-10=0

=>5-5a=0

=>5a=5

=>a=5/5

=>a=1

from (1)

-(2(1)+10)=b

=>-(2+12)=b

=>b=-12

a=1 and b=-12

Answer:-

The values of a=1 and b=-12
