\bold{See\:The\:above\:figure}

\underline{Using\:pythogoras \:theorem}

x² + y² = 10²
x² + y² =100

And,

(21-y)² + x² =17²

21² - 2(21)(y) + y² = 17²

21² + y² - 42y = 289

441+ ( y²+ x² )-42y= 289

441+100-42y=289

541-42y=289

-42y=289-541

-42y = -252

y= 252/42

\bold{y=6}

x = √100-y
=>√100-y²
=>√100-36
=>√64
=>8

So,
\bold{\underline{length\:of\:the\:chord\:=>2x=16}}

Answer:

x² + y² = 10²

x² + y² =100

(21-y)² + x² = 17²

21² - 2(21) y + y² = 17²

21² + y² - 42y = 289

441+ ( y²+ x² )-42y= 289

441+100-42y=289

541-42y=289

-42y=289-541

-42y = -252

y= 252/42

{y=6}y=6

x = √100-y

= √100-y²

= √100-36

= √64

= 8
