By condition,
y-2x=2
or,y=2x+2
putting y=2x+2 in equation (1)

or,2x2(sq)+2x=24 --- dividing both side by 2
or,x(sq)+x-12=0
or,x(sq)+4x-3x-12=0
or,x(x+4)-3(x+4)=0
or,(x+4)(x-3)=0
therefore,x=3
