Did you try differentiating the expression and get the value of maxima?

Find dE/dx = 0 and solve for x.

Hannah10301: Yes I came to know about it afterwards thanks...
Hannah10301: What about the second one??
uneq95: it will come out to be max at x=0 for the 2nd expression, if you differentiate it correctly
uneq95: differentiation of 1/(x²+R²)^3/2 is -3x/(x²+R²)^½
uneq95: equate it to zero, you will get x = 0
uneq95: sry its -3x/(x²+R²)^5/2
uneq95: although answer will still be same
Hannah10301: Yes I'm getting x=0 but I was not sure about it that's why I asked u
uneq95: if you were not sure that that its the Maxima, then you could have calculated the double derivative and checked the condition for maxima
Hannah10301: OK...
