1) Can oxidation and reduction take place alone ? Why / why not ? What are such reactions called ?
2) A student poured a solution of copper sulphate in a vessel made of iron . Would the teacher be happy or not on the act of the student ? justify your answer.

yes it can be , oxidation and reduction takes place separate as in one equation only reduction, oxidation is also takes place .

When only oxidation is place then the reaction called oxidation reaction and if reduction is takes place then it called reduction reaction .

And if both oxidation and reduction reaction exits in a reaction then it called redox reaction.
