father= x-4 ; son= y-4

⇒ x-4=4y-16

⇒ x-4y+12=0 .........(i)

Also, presently

⇒ x + y = 53

⇒x + y - 53 = 0 ..........(ii)

(i)-(ii) , -5y + 65 = 0

y=13

⇒x= 40

therefore father is 40 and son is 13
