initially centre of mass of system moves with constant speed v...so there is no external force..then speed of centre of mass remains same....if child moves with speed u..then he exert force on the trolley but this force is in action reaction pair according to newtons 3rd law..which cancel out each other..and hence speed of centre of mass remains same..due to absence of external force...
so ans will be "C"
