The ‘District Industrial Centres’ were set up by the central government with the aim of providing a focal point for the promotion of small scale enterprises in a particular area and to make all necessary services and facilities available to them at a single point. They help in providing benefits of different government schemes to the new enterprises. The centralization of procedures help to minimize efforts and time required to get various permissions, licenses, registrations, subsidies etc. They help entrepreneurs to obtain licences from Electricity Board, Water Supply Board, No objection certificate etc. They also assist in procuring raw materials and imported machinery. The District Centres also organize marketing outlets in liaison with other government agencies.
