Given LHS:

1 + \frac{cot^2theta}{1 + cosec theta}

We know that 1 + cot^2theta = cosec^2theta-1

1 + \frac{cosec^2theta - 1}{1 + cosectheta}

We know that a^2 - b^2 = (a + b)(a - b)

1 + \frac{(cosectheta+1)(cosectheta-1)}{(cosectheta+1)}

1 + cosectheta - 1

cosec theta.

LHS = RHS

Hope this helps!
