x +  \frac{1}{x}  = 3 \\   {(x +  \frac{1}{x}) }^{2}  =  {x}^{2}  +  { \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} } } + 2 \times x \times  \frac{1}{x}  \\ 9  - 2 =  {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }  \\  {x}^{2}  +  \frac{1}{ {x}^{2} }  = 7
