3x² - 5xy  + 4y² -1 + (7y² - 9xy + 5) + ( 7xy - 4x² + y² - 13)

Open up the brackets...

=3x² - 5xy + 4y² -1 + 7y² - 9xy + 5 + 7xy - 4x² + y² - 13

Add the like terms....

= -x² + 12y² - 6xy - 9
