it became a source of diseases. aquatic life is also affected.
ganga action plan was started in 1985. under this sewage treatment plants were installed on the bank of ganga for27 cities to treat 1000 million litres of sewage daily before its discharge into river. and GAP2 plan in 1993. also PM Narendra modi has put his efforts forth to clean river ganga.
