Given : PQRS is a parallelogram & arPQRS = 24cm²
             SY = YR
             PS║YX║RQ
To find: arSYQX

Steps:
In SYQX,
SY║XQ (∵SR║PQ and SY and XQ are parts of SR and PQ respectively)
SX║YQ (given)
∴SYQX is a ║gm
∴SY = XQ
but SY = 1/2 SR

∴ar(SYQX) = (1/2SR×h)                       [area of ║gm = base×height]
∴ar(SYQX) = 1/2(arPQRS)                   [∵ arPQRS = SR×h)
∴ar(SYQX) = 1/2(24cm²)                      [∵arPQRS = 24cm²]
∴arSYQX = 12cm²
