Contribution to Bengal and Nation
Ordinary though he was
Extraordinary was his work
Steered his natives to the
Path of illumination
That helped not only his nation
But an entire civilization
Born a path-breaker and a maker
He did this all in his stride
Never one to clamour for attention
Did work in silence as the nature’s creation
For the love of his work and
Not for its rewards
Watched in horror the influence
Of the foreigners
His soul winced at the demolition
Of his culture
Could not he rest till
That trend was reversed
Made literary world
His battlefield
To bring about freedom
To his motherland
Evident even today
As Vande Mataram!
बंगाल के सांस्कृतिक पुनरुत्थान,
में था बंकिमचन्द्र चटर्जी का उच्च स्थान।
समाज के सुधारक,
धर्म के प्रचारक,
चाहते थे सब हों एक समान,
बंगाल में चलाया साक्षरता अभियान,
सब को प्राप्त हो शिक्षा व ज्ञान,
मिले सबको मान व सम्मान।
सिखाया विदेशियों से न कभी डरो,
स्वाभिमान व आत्म विश्वास के साथ जियो,
जलाकर बंगाल के सांस्कृतिक पुनरुत्थान की ज्योति,
चट्टोपाध्याय जी ने दिये बंगाल के लोगों को अनमोल मोती।
