✔When an atom becomes a positive ion is pulls its electrons closer, decreasing is radius moreover, when it becomes a negative.

Radii is the distance between the nucleus and the the last shell.

Positive ions have smaller radii because they lose electrons from the valence shell and thus one valence shell is reduced.

Negative ions gain electrons and thus the outer shell does not get reduced.

Therefore negative ions has larger radii
